iPod does not light up?

I submerged my Ipod in water, placed it in a bag with rice for a week to dry. I connected it to my computer and it read Ipod, was able to back it up to my computer. I opened it up to check for any damage ended up breaking my screen. My question is do I need to replave LCD, is that what makes it light up. Basically if so I will have to spend money to buy screen and LCD just over 100 dollars compared to buying new Ipod. Will this fix it? Need advice.

Marie, check on here first. It is somewhat generic but should help you in making your decision. My suggestion is to start of with a new battery. Since you are certain that you broke your display, you will have to replace that as well. Not sure which part of your display you broke, there are some cheaper alternatives than the $100 you mentioned. Good Luck.
