As an update, we had previously checked under the seat for any possible obstructions in the tracks. Before my wife went to the dealership remove the seat for further diagnostics, she took it in for routine service. The mechanic reset the on-board computer! Problems SOLVED! Seat now fully functional, traveling full length, forwards and back.

Hey, Steve. I’ve encountered this on what I believe was an ‘08 Volvo S80 and the problem was that the convertible top allowed water to leak onto the control modules for the seat memory. If your car is convertible, or you suspect any interior leaking may have been possible, take the modules out and open them up to check for corrosion. The “book” does call for the seats to be removed, but if the seat can’t move it’ll block your access to some of the bolts. I was able to squeeze in from the front even with the seat stuck in the forward position. Good luck!
