Apple Watch Series 2, announced September 7th, 2016 and released September 16 2016.

Compatibility series 3 lcd

Does the apple watch series 3 has the same lcd as the series 2? In other words would a series 2 lcd work on a series 3 watch and viceversa?

Sadly, these screens are not backwards compatible so therefore it won’t work. There are slight differences in each model’s screen that make them proprietary to their individual Series.

However, if you are interested in a new Series 2 screen you can buy one from here at iFixit.

Sorry, no they are a bit different. The NXP 67V04 NFC Controller is mounted on the display on the Series 2, unlike the Series 3 which has it mounted on the SIP package.
