iPhone 5 not charging/won't turn on after screen replacement

Hi,

I had an iPhone 5 without a screen lying around for quite some time and I finally decided to buy a new front display (complete assembley). But now I noticed the phone won’t start, I first tought the battery was completely drained as it was not charged for well over a year. But when I plug the charger in it doesn’t do anything, even when I let it charge for over an hour. But when I plug in the charger I hear a verry faint clicking noice near the battery connector. Also when I try to messure the voltage across the battery it gives me 0V

Could somebody please help me with this?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

So just a small update, I didn’t notice my multimeter was in “hold”, so it didn’t measure anything. Tried again and now I measure 2.6V.

And when I measure the connections on the motherboard while the phone is plugged in, i measure 0.74V

I think you have to charge the battery first from outer source. While the battery is in complete sleep mode sometime charging with phone is in vain.So take out battery and charge the battery from direct source like dc power supply.

Easier said than done, I can't just put a wire on the battery connector without soldering one on it, and if I'm correct you can't just charge a lithium-ion battery with a normal dc power source
