Hazy camera and broken lens

The rear camera lens on my iPhone 6S is cracked, and now when opening the camera app there is a hazy picture and also a black dot in one of the corners.

I’m considering trying to repair it myself though am not certain if I need to buy just a replacement lens or a replacement rear camera as well.

Is there is a way of telling whether it is just the lens that is damaged or whether the camera is damaged too?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Because of iFixit’s wonderful return policy, I would buy both the lens and the iSight camera. I would try replacing just the lens first and if the image is not any better I would then replace the iSight camera.

If the iSight camera is not needed you can return it easily and without a hassle (the only reason why I am reccomending you get both the lens and iSight camera!).

Thanks, I’m going to try replacing the lens today to see if that helps.

@lordsainsbury Alright! Best of luck.

OK, I have replaced the lens but there is no difference. I might try replacing the camera which will hopefully solve the issue.

@lordsainsbury If it is not the lens then it is definitely the camera. Go ahead and return the lens.
