Can I add SATA SSD to 2014 Mac Mini with 512Gb PCIe SSD pre installed?

Hi

My 2014 MAC Mini is pre installed with single 512GB PCIe SSD, now it is almost full of space. I have spare SATA SSD 512GB which is now installed in my 2008 MBP, can I just remove from MBP and install it in Mac Mini?

@danj I found the part that was out of stock in a dual drive kit here on iFixit. It comes with a few miscellaneous parts though... @j0hnnie Just in case you want to buy it here from iFixit, just pay for the part only and not the bundle. Mac mini Dual Drive Kit

The Mac mini Dual Drive Kit mentioned above lists support for only 2011-2012 Mac Mini. Are you certain it'll work with a 2014?

by

@phatcat - I didn't list the 2011-2012 dual drive kit so I have no idea where you got the idea.

Here we are using the 2014 guide and cable which works across the 2011 through the 2014 systems. Apple only altered the one port to PCIe.

Thanks @danj I was referencing @Aaron Cooke link: Mac mini Dual Drive Kit

I imagine it was a typo that 2014 was omitted? I'm looking for the cable, grommet and HD mounting screws.

by

@phatcat - Ah! You need the mounting hardware!

Thats what Aaron was posting the dual drive kit to get them and the needed tools. This kit is a bit cheaper Dual Hard Drive Upgrade Kit
