Broken ear jack. How do I replace the broken part?

Hi,

I have a blackberry storm 9530 (device software: 5.0.0.328). My phone is no longer under warranty and I need to replace my stereo ear jack. I have searched all over the web and cannot find a resource that provides detailed information explaining and showing how to replace this part.

Can you help?

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you, Steve

Okay, first here is a link for the actual jack Then here is a partial teardown of the Storm. There are even a couple of videos on youtube.com that can help you to disassemble your Storm. Once you have it apart I am sure you can figure out how to install the jack. Good Luck and hope you take plenty of pics for a new guide. Let us know how it is going.

+ that partial teardown looks pretty complete to me

:-) I called it partial because it does not show specifically how to change the audio jack

I very much appreciate all of your input! Does anyone know how the stereo ear jack is removed? Do I need a solder gun to remove and replace the jack?

Thanks a bunch!

Steve not quite sure but the storm has a ribbon cable that connects all of the connectors etc. I guess you will have to disassemble it to make sure. It is always good to have a bit of knowledge about soldering when working with those devices. Let us know and we can continue to guide you through that.
