Why can’t I see all my wifi networks or even join them?

Hi guys,

so I opened and cleaned my MacBook after water spill as the fan was going crazy and computer was slow. I found corrosion and cleaned it with alcohol and now it’s working fine.

BUT my wifi now only sees 1 or 2 wifi networks and can’t even connect to my iPhone hotspot and keeps saying password is invalid even when it is found. I use to see over 30 networks because I live in an apartments block but now it’s almost none.

Before I opened it the MacBook completely ran outta battery and I cleaned it then. I turned it on and everything was smooth and diagnostics said no issues found. the computer had a wrong clock and time so changed that, and my wifi was on but it wasn’t connect to anything and only one Telstra wifi network was repetitively found. All my other stuff is working with my modem just not my laptop. Did resets didn’t smc cleared old network files etc

I was wondering if it was my antenna or if I need a new airport card etc.

Answer this question I have this problem too

You picked the generic heading of all of the MacBook Air's can you drill down to your exact model by going into edit mode of your question and then modify your system to yours.

You might need a new AirPort card, but I think other people might have more expertise then me, so don’t take my word for it just yet

Depending on the version of MacBook Air you have you may need to alter your router so the older G or N options are enabled.
