Laptop wont turn on.

I'm working on a coworker's Sony Vaio model: SVF153B1YL. She stated that soda had been spilled in it. After taking it apart and inspecting the internals, I didn't find any corrosion on the MB. So I put it back together and took a few keys off; you can't access the keyboard from under the laptop, and I found what looked like soda under a few keys. When I went to turn on the computer to see if it would even boot, nothing happened. I tried to plug it into charger and it didn't seem like the battery wanted to pull a charge. My question is, how can I test the battery to see if it's dead, or even the board to make sure that it's live? Thanks in advance.

the only way to do that is by finding a schematic for the motherboard. You will need to let us know all the numbers on the board, not from the computer. As for your battery you would need to post some pictures of it so we can see what you see. It should enable us to identify the contacts. Adding images to an existing question

Also, since this computer had a liquid spill you will have to clean all parts properly with some igh grade isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush. Yes, it is okay to submerge the board in the alcohol. without cleaning it and continously trying to turn thing on etc. it is easily possible that your board short circuited.

I double checked everything and the board is recieving power via the battery and power cable. It just won't turn on for some reason.

I am certain that there are issues with either the power manaement circuitry or the power on circuitry. Spilling soda will levae plenty of debris that will lead to corrosion and shortcircuits. This is enough to interrupt any power flow.

That's just it though. There's no visible corrosion on the board or in the power connector. I'm getting and amp meter in a couple days, too great the power connector, battery and MB to see if there's any issues there.
