Why is my MacBook over heating near the hinge

my macbook pro is getting very hot on the surface between my keyboard and screen.

Your system has a heat exchanger which sits just under the display. This area can be a bit warm when you’ve been using your system hard as the CPU & GPU chip create heat that needs to be shed-off. Here’s an image of the logic board and the heat exchanger marked in green

Even still you may need to address why its running hot. I would recommend getting a good thermal monitoring app like TG Pro it will allow you to see more deeply on to whats happening within your system.
