Wont boot, no chime, black screen.

My MacBook Pro will take power and charge the battery.

Basically, when I click the power button there is no chime and just a black screen. Also, there is no power to the USB ports or the keyboard. I can also hear the optical drive spin up and the cooling fan is running.

I have looked around on different forums as Apple was not much help to me.

I thought it may be the GPU, but then still I would be getting a startup chime right??

Thanks to everyone that will help :)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Did you have a liquid spill at some point into the keyboard or trackpad?

No liquid has been spilt on the keyboard, also if it was just spilt on the keyboard surely I would still get the chime at least?

by

You’re assuming a lot here with your belief the start up tone would still happen if the keyboard got wet.

The issue is the liquid dropping down onto the logic board damaging it.

Sorry to say if you didn’t get the system wet the logic board has failed. The reason the fan is running is the fact you have a micro controller (SMC) which controls it. As you haven’t passed post the USB ports aren’t powered yet.

Time for a new logic board or find someone who can fix yours.

Here’s the IFIXIT guide you’ll need to follow to replace it MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 Logic Board Replacement within the guide are your logic board options.
