Major Invisible Screen Damage MacBook Pro

My brother gave me this laptop. Not sure the year, but i think between 2011 and 2013. the year is probably also irrelevant. Anyways, could someone tell me what could have caused what is shown in the picture. It looks like something hit the screen, but there is not physical damage done to the outside glass…. at least that i can see

The white plastic logo got the hit from the other side breaking the LCD its self vs the cover glass in the front.

Nothing repairable within the display other than replacing it which is one of the easier jobs. Here’s the IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Early 2013 Display Assembly Replacement and the needed part: MacBook Pro 13" Retina (Late 2012-Early 2013) Display Assembly

Thanks, I find it odd that there is also no damage done to the lighted Apple logo either.

You won't! It sticks out a bit on the inside and its that part of the logo that punched into the backside of the LCD panel smashing it.

Unlike the cover glass the LCD panel glass is more brittle and doesn't take much force to break.

Order the needed part and after you get your system working you can dissect the lid to see the damage on the other side of the LCD panel.
