How to upgrade Firmware on Mac Pro 2009 with El Capitan

It used to be possible to upgrade the firmware of a Mac Pro 4.1

to 5.1. Nowadays when I try to open the firmware upgrade package .It tells me not supported on my computer. Is there anyway of overcoming this.
