Home Button not working

I replaced a cracked screen with your 6s replacement screen. I very carefully transferred the home button. Before I completed the repair by attaching the screen, I tested the home button. It didn’t work. I disconnected the home button and reconnected it. The phone initially said that it was unable to actuate the home button. I turned the power off and tried again. Home button did not work, but this time the screen said that it was unable to actuate the touch ID on the phone. The phone seems to work otherwise.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It is possible that the replacement screen has a damaged home button link flex. This is embedded in the screen assembly. Check the condition of that flex and the connectors on either end to see if there is any damage, even the lightest damage.

Another way to test for this is to re-install the original, cracked screen to see if the Home button works again. If it does, the the replacement screen is the issue. If it doesn’t, then the damage is probably directly on the Home Button itself.
