"The removal of the parallel port was probably partly because no official add-on had ever been released for it, and partly because it was being used to connect cheat cartridges that could be used to defeat the regional lockouts and copy protection." from here I guess at the time Sony had some ides of using it for expansion and different controllers but later abandoned the plan. Hope this helps...

I bought a gameshark/chip that plugged into slot and allowed me to play "burned CD" games, that I copied from blockbuster. This slot chip was easier than soldering a chip inside...plus gameshark cheat codes

No, that's the Serial Port you're talking about. Serial Port was available on every PS1-model, but Paraller Port (the big one) was removed from SCPH-9xxx series onwards.

Used for Action Replays, GameSharks, VCD adapters, the long-awaited PSIO adapter, and Game Boy (some idiot's probably gonna "correct" me by saying "its not game boy its game boi") Adapters. The only time that is was actually used by Sony was for the debug units' PC parallel port (Or SCSI) adapter.

Let me correct you, this is a common misconception. It's actually called Game Boi, noy Game Boy.

by

yeah even by nintendo itself! on every original gameboy/color/advance is gameboy written!! (disclaimer: the first sentence is ironical)

by

@Sora, it's not. Lol. It's 'Game Boy'.
