WiFi doesn’t work but will connect to WiFi hotspot

Bought an iPhone 6 for £40 from a friend, it connected to WiFi when I bought it, then I returned home and no wifi connections showed up. Thought it might be a problem with the WiFi antenna like lots of other people are having, but it connects to my phones WiFi (not bluetooth) hotspot. I’m prepared to replace the WiFi antenna but it seems like there could be a simple solution, any help is much appreciated.

Replacing antennas _is_ the simple solution, if it works. Anything else besides that is on the logic board..wifi IC is paired with other iphone's components thus virtually not replacable. Wifi chip power lines and related components are the hard part to troubleshoot. If you got an iPhone 6 that cheap I'd be tempted to think you're gonna face the hard part, that would explain its price.

Hello Connor,

Two things come to mind that you need to check.

1. Is the WIFI that you are trying to connect to, working? Are there other devices connecting to it?

2. The most likely scenario is that the Iphone's WiFi was somehow turned off (which is done real easy). You'll need to go into the settings and turn on the WiFi and all the available signals /systems will then appear.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your reply! The network is working and I have devices connected to it, and I have turned the WiFi on in the settings with no change :(
