MacBook got wet, backlight LED not working, help!

Hi All,

Thank you for reading this. My backlight LED stopped working after my water bottle spilled all over my laptop. It hooks up to an external monitor just fine. Flashlight through the apple symbol shows the display. I found this answer which has helped me figure out what the issue is: MacBook backlight not working - display or backlight ic?

Now I need to know how to fix it. What am I looking for? How do I replace it? What parts do I need?

I've replaced an expanding battery before on my macbook pro so I feel like I can figure this out I just need a little help.

Thank you so much!

E.

@mneliz the best thing to do at this time would be to take a look at the logic board and evalaute it for corrosion and obvious damage. It appears that your backlight is not working which could be due to a short on the backlight circuitry, a bad fuse, a bad controller IC or a corroded connector and many things in between.
