rear wheel fallen off

rear wheel fell off my crafsman self propelled lawnmower dont actually see anything broken. tried to pop back in but bolt will not go through far enough

The wheel is attached to the height adjuster on each wheel, If it came loose then I think the axel bolt is made with a square on the non threaded end so you do have to get the square in the square hole to allow the axel to protrude out enough to put the washer and nut back on, the square shoulder allows you to tighten the nut with out holding the axel.

I do not know your model and am thinking this is the way it is made.

Then again the axel could have broken and not enough left to attach, I would think any one would see this though. You can remove the adjustment device and replace the axel with a bolt, may have to grind off the old axel.

Just saying what I would do.

thanks although there is no washer and nut on these ones as i checked with opposite rear wheel they are threaded right into and through the metal so i will pick up same size srew except longer and just put my own washer and nut on
