Phone says 'iPhone' in upper left instead of phone carrier... Help!

My unlocked iphone 4 out of nowhere says 'iphone' in the top left corner where it would normally say the phone carrier. Also there is no wifi and the phone wont recognize a sim card. The phone is running on 01.59 baseband. Does anyone know what happened? Please help!!!

What Firmware are you currently running?

I would click Settings Icon, then click General, scroll to bottom, click Reset, then click Reset Network Settings. That's it. If does not work, then Hard Reset, hold both Power and Home buttons at same time for about 15 seconds until iPhone restarts. Good luck.

Hey Brad... I tried the network reset and it didnt work. I am running 4.1 with a 01.59.00 firmware and I dont want to mess that up. I am worried about that with a hard reset.

Options

Sounds like your OS is Corrupt. Download TinyUmbrella and use that to preserve your baseband and do a shift restore and point iTunes to your 4.1 Firmware. That should enable you to preserve your baseband and do a fresh OS install.
