MacBook Pro not turning on and not charging

Hi there,

So my MacBook currently won’t turn on and won’t charge.

In the lead up to this my MBP worked fine. I used it as I normally would last night. It would have possibly had about 10-15% charge. I didn’t charge it as I’d left my adapter at my mums.

Anyway so I opened up my MBP this morning and nothing happened so I assumed it had no battery but the charge icon didn’t come onto the screen as it would normally if it was flat. I pressed power but still nothing.

My son had plugged his iPad into the usb earlier which he normally does.

I then tried to hold the power down for 10secs, nothing. I then closed the screen and opened it up again which booted up my screen to the password screen. I entered my password it it then quickly went to shut down menu and turned itself off. I managed to get it to power up again, entered my password, noticed I had 15% charge and then it died again.

I borrowed my sisters charger and the LED was glowing green the whole time but I couldn’t get the MB to power up again. I then plugged the charger into my sisters MB and it charged fine. Put it back in mine and it was now glowing red, but still nothing happening. I called Apple tech and went through all the things they told me to do but still nothing, and at this point now, there is no light coming on the charger and still nothing happening with my MBP.

I have booked an appointment with Apple on Tuesday but I guess wanting others opinions on what they think it could be. My googling efforts have come up with a DC-inboard issue? Or possibly Logic board :(

Please any input would be great as I’m freaking out slightly.

Thank you so much

You might want to check the MagSafe connectors for dirt or damage on both the system & charger. Here’s a good reference: Apple Portables: Troubleshooting MagSafe adapters

Just replying to this thread to give an outcome incase anyone has this issue in the future.

I took at to Apple and it was Logic Board failure and luckily they will replace under consumer law warranty as it was less than 3 years old.
