“This particular error code means that your scale needs to be calibrated using the required calibration weight for that particular scale model. Follow the step-by-step instructions for calibration included in your user manual to properly calibrate your scale. “

my scale doesn't have a calibration button...it has 2 buttons: 'on-zero-off' and 'unit'

Not as helpful as it might be, since I don't have the user manual. But at least now I know it's a calibration problem.

My scale saying "cal" I hold cal button until it flashes 2000, but that all it does, then shut off.

Mine showed this code for several tries when I pressed the start (zero) button WITH a bowl on the scale, Annoyed with the vague answers I read here, I rapped the scale gently on it’s edge against the counter top ( in case the batter was loose or something) and then started it again WITHOUT the bowl on top - voila! It works again. :D

Hi @queenchristine ,

Intrigued as to what is "vague" about the Chosen Solution above.

Reasonably straight forward answer about how to re-calibrate the scale.

Here are the relevant pages from the user manual for the make and model scale provided by the OP

I have the same problem and it seems pretty vague to me too there jayeff. Took the scale out of the box and everytime I turn it on I get that error message and it turns itself off. How can I follow the calibration process if the scale keeps turning itself off?

by

Thank you for the links to user manual pages, that helps. Oh, wait, oops, it doesn't. My scale doesn't have a CAL button on it.

by

All you do is push and hold the "unit" button until it flashes and then it'll read CAL

Even if you get it to the calibrating screen by pressing tear and mold at the same time while the scale is booting up you still can't calibrate it even though it puts you in the calibrating mode. It just keeps flashing 100 grams even though there is a hundred grand sitting on the scale at the moment. So if you want to get into the calibration screen press the on button then immediately press the T and the M buttons and hold them down until the calibration screen comes up. It won't do you any good though

So, after you get to calibration screen by pressing T and M simultaneously as above, press M once and "cal" will flash on the screen a few times then 1000 gm will be displayed. Here you should place something that weigh exactly 1000 grams. I used a jar full of water till 1000 gram I measured on a second scale I own. Once you do that, the scale will be calibrated :)

This works for most scales https://youtu.be/DPG_5iLXCB8

Simply take the item off the scale, press zero, place the item back on the scale and press zero again. It seems to correct some imbalance or instability. Cheers!

AWS Aero-100

Fixing out2 error code (aka recalibrate me please.) Heres how w/o original weight.

Assuming that you don't have 100 dollar bills sitting around or 20 American nickles(which would be slightly off anyways) here what to do, in a non-vague way of course. Check your batteries 1.Using a secondary scale weigh out 100g. 2.Turn on your AWS Aero-100 and immediately press T,M, and .cal at the same time. This should bring up the calibration setting. 3.Wait for the screen to flash 100.00. 4.Set your 100g of weight on it. 5.Wait for scale to to flash pass and your done.

Note: it's important not to use a tray unless it is part of the 100g. Try and find a single item that can weigh 100g. Like a jar or lid, Dixie cups work as well as shot glasses. Adding salt or liquid will help you reach the desired 100g. If you weigh heavy or light your scale will re-calibrated wrong and you will need to repeat this process. Also try and remembering that most scales will auto tear any weight already on the scale when it turns on.

PS: If you don't have a tear button hold either button you do have or both until your screen reads .Cal or spend an extra buck next time for a better product. I recommend a Fuzion recargable scale. @ just under $20 to purchase and having no batteries to worry about its a good everyday scale for every day people.
