phone wont turn on

My iPhone 6s wont turn on. about two days ago the screen completely blacked out but It was still on. I knew this because I could still receive notifications and phone calls. I decided to hard restart my phone to see if I could solve the problem but now my phone wont turn back on. I plug it in to charge and into my laptop, nothing happens, my laptop doesn't even detect that my phone has been plugged in. Also my phone gets really hot even though the phone has been off for almost 24 hours now. I am thinking I need to replace the battery but I want to be sure before I make any decisions. thank you

Battery isn't the issue if the phone can still turn on but no display.

Either the screen has gone faulty or backlight gone which happens in most cases.

Try shining flashlight on screen and see if you can make out any display as it may have no backlight but display.
