Do I really need a heat gun?

I am going to attempt an iPhone 7 screen repair for the first time later, do I really need a heat gun or can I get away without doing it with a heat gun?

Options

I use a hair dryer. You can open it without one, but separating the screen, front camera flex and home button are much easier with some heat.
