My TV shows a picture for less than a whole second and then goes black

My Vizio TV shows a picture for less than a second and then goes completely black for about 6 seconds and then the pattern continues in this way. I’m ready to throw the TV in the garbage, but don’t have the money to replace it, so I wanted to see if there was an inexpensive way to attempt a repair.

I’m providing this info in case it’s needed. It’s a 50+ inch 3D smart TV that I purchased in 2013.
