Replaced thermal fuse, drum still doesn't turn
My HE3 dryer wouldn't start this morning. I jumped the wires on the thermal fuse, and it started right up, so I got a new fuse, but it still won't start. I jumped the wires again with the new fuse in place, and it started fine once again. Seems unlikely I would have gotten a bad fuse right out of the bag, but I can't think of any other cause - what am I missing?
Is this a good question?

I took the new fuse back to the shop, and they tested continuity with a multimeter - both new fuse and original fuse showed as good. But, with either fuse I can jump the terminals and the dryer runs fine. Take the jumper off and it doesn't work again - panel lights up, drum doesn't turn.

I put the dryer into diagnostic mode and hit start, and the drum rotated normally, so that would seem to indicated that the motor, drum, belt assembly is also fine. The other odd thing is even when I jump the thermal fuse the results are not consistent - if I jump right down at the fuse terminals it won't run, but if I'm right up on the top of the spade connector it mostly, but not 100%, starts.
I'm baffled.

What were the results of the diagnostic mode?

everything showed normal. It did kick on one time for about a minute before it shut itself off, and it got really hot, so definitely something wonky - probably electrical.

Hi,
You may have to check the connections of the fuse on the board or whatever connection method is use (fuse holder or wiring connector etc).
It may be that there is a dry solder joint etc and when you touch it a certain way, connection is made whereas it may move and break the connection when handled in a different way if you get what I mean
