Dead phone after screen change

Short:

phone is dead, not seen by itunes/laptop, no effect on plugging in.

Long:

I managed to smash my iphone screen. The phone was still on, but the digitiser was smashed in two spots and the screen underneath was white with a few vertical strips. Managed to turn it off (I think) by holding down the power and making a guess at swiping it off.

I've already replaced the digitzer and home button once, so was reasonably confident I could replace the lcd and screen. Got in a replacement screen assembly, popped off the off screen adn stuck in the new one. Pressed the on (hopefully) - nothing. Plugged it in to the wall - nothing (no buzz). Flicked the mute on and off - nothing. Plugged it onto laptop - nothing. Rechecked the cables to the screen and checked the USB lead and the dock connector. Cleaned them as well as I could.

I'm guessing the battery is flat and something is stopping it charging (more damage from the fall?)

Any suggestions/advice?

Cheers,

Try charging from mains charger instead of laptop.. it gives a higher output which might just kick start your flat battery. If that doesn't work and you are fairly confident that the battery was charging well before the drop then I'd replace the dock connector and go from there.
