Power button, earphone jack, vibrate toggle switch will not work?

I have no memory of anything that would cause the following errors, but as of yesterday:

The on/off button does not work - I cannot hardkey a restart or even put the phone on sleep

The vibrate toggle switch does not work

The headphone jack does not work.

I have already restored the iPhone and made sure I installed all updates.

Is my only option to replace these three items? If so, I think I'd be better off buying a new one.

shop around for the flex, they aren't that expensive, but the repair is time consuming and fiddly. just take it slow, read the guide several times and then attempt it. make sure to take care to move the gold antenna out of the way of bezel before removing the motherboard. Try Brad's suggestion first

These functions are all connected by a single flex cable, Cable #5. Making sure the iPhone 3gs is OFF before starting. What I would do is carefully open the iPhone with a suction cup, being very careful not to damage the screen Flex Cables 1,2,3, especially #3 and its connector. Once open I would make sure Flex Cable #5 is seated correctly to the Logic Board. I would pop #5 off carefully and then snap it back down carefully into place. Then carefully put the iPhone back together.

Good luck,

Brad
