Screen fades to black after replacing battery

I replaced the battery in my iPhone 4 using the Ifixit kit. It worked fine for about 2 weeks. Now when I try to use the iPhone the screen shows vertical lines and then fades to black after a minute or so. If I let it sit for long enough it will look fine until I try to use it, then same problem. The phone works, I can receive calls, but can't see the screen.

Is there something about the battery replacement that would cause this, i.e. loose connection etc. I don't know it the phone is worth replacing the screen in terms of money and time.

Thanks,

Al Pierce

unfortunately, very rarely does the battery replacement cause an issue with screen fading, however, i have seen it a couple times in my career. the only way to know for sure, is to try replacing it again, and seeing if it fixes your issue.

more commonly, what you're describing is a screen flex failure. be it loose connection, or straight up damaged flex. replacing the screen more commonly fixes this issue.

however, another, more rare possibility, is that your GPU could also be failing. in which case, you would need to replace the logic board to fix.
