Will be replacing LCD panel. Reusing old adhesive will probably cause problems in future.
What kind of adhesive tape should I use to attach glass cover to aluminum frame/bezel?

You're right, reusing old adhesive wouldn't work. You have to remove the old adhesive, the cleaner the better and use a good quality biadhesive, sticking to a known good brand such as 3M or Tesa.
After placing the glass you need to warm it and fix it in place under pressure for a few hours or overnight with clamps or putting some weight on the edges so that the pressure applies to contact points and not in the center to avoid risk to damage the lcd panel.
