What is the function of the "6t213hf" chip?

I have a 2010 macbook pro 17" 2010. I noticed the "6t213hf" chip located by the charger port on the logic board has been badly damaged. The laptop ethernet port and the whole system operates perfectly fine. Can anyone tell me what the function of this chip is and is it necessary for me to replace it? One shopmtold me I dont need to worry about it. Thank you.

As correctly pointed out by @salmonjapan is a transformer used by the ethernet circuitry. Since your ethernet port seems to be working fine, the shop that told you not to worry about it was right, probably the damage looks worse than it is in reality. Just take a mental note for future, in case you notice some glitches in ethernet behaviour you know where it might come from.
