UN40H5203AFXZA Samsung TV Backlights turn off and on if tv is plugged.

Hello, So i was watching this Television and one day it just turns off and begins flickering. The front screen just flashes light with no picture on it.

I have an unlisted video below to show how the issue appears.

This is all it does and i have checked the capcitors on the power board and such they appear fine and have not taken any damage. could anyone help me identify is it the main board here or the power board? Or some other issue...

Dorian Green that does not look like a main board error. It is either the power board or the backlight array itself. Double check all connectors and make sure they are properly seated. If ti is the backlight array, you will have to separate the panel. Not a bad job but it requires some careful work.

Update (05/06/2018)

You'd need to identify the connector on the power board which is responsible for the backlight. connect a meter to it and see if it supplies a steady voltage. If so it's your backlight. You can always add some images of your boards with your question so that we can see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that.

Is there a way I can identify which of the two it is?

Hey again! So I used my multimeter to test a connector on the power board and it did deliver a steady voltage. I unplugged the power supply to led strip connector and replugged it and they ticked like usual for a bit then died this leads me to believe they were the cause as they truly died. I will look around for a backlight array.

my guess is some of your backlights are blown this will cause your tv not to power on
