eBay used power supply damage?

Hey community,

I recently bought a new power supply from eBay. I'm not sure to try it out inside my iMac because the board looks kinda water-damaged (see attached photos).

What do you think about it?

Thanks for answering,

Leon

What you are seeing is a coating thats applied to the board at the end of the manufacturing process. It protects the board from moisture & corrosion.

Okay, thank you!

But why is the coating white just on some areas?

Thats a fair question! I can't tell you why it so splotchy a job.

I suspect it's sprayed on and the coating then pools a bit in the hollows.
