Can vertical bars on a Samsung plasma screen be fixed?

I have a samsung ps50c490b3wxxu plasma tv. When the tv runs on screen saver or a channel with no input it is fine. When I turn on a device for a given input ie hdmi 1 vertical bars appear immediately. It starts with a white and grey flicking then very thin pink blue and green then a solid black line with lines through it

I have heard that it could b the screen but I doubt this as picture is perfect when there is no input and the menu is displayed. I have also heard it may b a board but not sure which one.

Your help and expertise is appreciated

Thanks

Mark

@djmarkyoung could be an issue with the control board (main board) or the buffer board. You can never totally rule out the panel, but it appears to be less likely in your case. Try all different video inputs and see if that makes a difference. Remove the back of your set and take some good pictures of all of your boards and check for obviously damaged components. Post those pictures with your question so we can see what you see.
