iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 CPU Replacement

Hi,

I'm using an iMac Intel 27" EMC 2309 with a Intel Core 2 Duo E7600 processor. Is it possible to upgrade that and with what processor? Can you give any links?

Sorry to say there are no upgrade options for the CPU.

The Core 2 Duo systems use a different socket than the i series CPU'ed systems (Lynnfield/Nehalem) which was also introduced at the same time.

Instead of trying to alter the CPU how about upgrading the RAM. And how about either replacing the HD with a SSHD which will give you some performance improvement or if you'er game, replace the optical drive for a second drive carrier and put in a SSD, and make it the boot drive. Then your system should really sing!
