How can I tell the difference between the iPad 2 models?

I'm about to order parts for an iPad 2 screen repair that has a dent on the side where the volume switches are. Even before getting the iPad dropped off, I'm assuming the volume/power flex is going to be damaged when it comes out.

My question is, without opening the tablet up how can I tell which iPad2 it is? The power-volume flex is different from the 2011 and 2012 re-release.

Oh, I just answered my own question. I never realized that there was a sub-number for the two iPad 2 models. Turns out the 2011 is an A1395 (EMC 2415), where the 2012 "iPad 2,4" is A1395 (EMC 2560). These EMC numbers can be found on the back of the device in the second row of small lettering.

Will the screen and digitizer interchange between 2011 &2012 model

Hi Alfred - sorry for the delay... just saw your post. Yes the digitizer and LCD are interchangeable. The most functional difference between them is the on/off and volume ribbon cable is completely different.
