Can I replace only the glass lens without replacing the digitizer?

I have recently cracked the screen of my Samsung Galaxy A5 cannot find local repair companies willing to replace only the glass lens. If this is possible I would really like to do this (replacement glass lens is <£10 and digitizer assembly is >£90).

I've replaced this on older smartphones, but nothing this modern, has something changed in recent years which makes it difficult to do this without replacing the whole assembly?
