There is a lot of oil on the outside of the housing under the scroll

Is it ok to run the saw with oil leaking from the housing?

There shouldn't be a lot of oil inside the unit. They usually only have an internally lubricated shaft that either uses a 'wicking' style or sealed bearing.

Just wipe the oil off and run it again, see where it is coming from.

Then pull the unit apart and clean and inspect it for wear.
