Home button working/not working

I have just replaced a faulty lightning dock connector. Put the phone back together and the home button is not responding correctly. When I first use the phone the home button seems to work, then it stops working completely. Touch ID works tho.

Also, the when the display part of the phone is not fixed and assembled to the main body of the phone, the home button seems to be working correctly all the time.

Another issue I have noticed is if I press the home button and then press the power button soon after it will restart the phone. If I don’t touch the home button my phone will not the restart after touching the power button.

Planning on taking the phone apart the check connectors when I get a chance, but any advise before I do would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Yeah better check the connectors for the home button and the home button extension cable which is the large metal plate behind the screen.

I'm guessing either partial rip, liquid damage or somehow one of those two went faulty.

Reseat all connectors related to home button and see how that goes.
