Thread gets stuck in machine

My singer machine has thread that gets tangled in the machine. I have gotten it out following the book, but it happens again every time I try to sew. I can’t use it at all. I bought it at least 10 years ago & didn’t use it for the first couple years, then we moved. I tried using it & had that problem immediately. I asked my sewing teacher & she told me it would cost more than the machine is worth to fix it. I can’t afford to buy a new one. I picked it up for like $115 at Target. Not the highest model. I also followed instructions for threading.

I have a different model than chosen. It’s a much better machine than this.

Its not the machine pictured. I have a full size machine.

@magecat any idea what model your machine is?

It’s a much better machine than the one pictured. It has several stitches. There is a bobbin beneath the plate, none on top.

Is yours a chain stitch machine like the one pictured, or does it have a bobbin beneath the plate as well as a bobbin in the top?

I wrote up all I know about sewing machines at https://wiki.restarters.net/Sewing_machi... - perhaps the tension is wrong, or the needle is bent, or the timing is out.
