Why Does my iPod think that I am pressing the home button?

The home button on my iPod keeps thinking that I am pressing it, even if I am not, which means it constantly is quitting the apps that I'm running or waking the device up from "sleep" mode (which makes my battery die within half a day of normal use), or even activating the voice control function if I am using the headphones I have with a remote and mic. Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? I have already begun using the "IncarserApp" (jailbreak) which locks the home button from use, but only while the iPod is on and in a certain app.

I would think that it is time for you to replace your home button. follow the teardown guide here iPod Touch 3rd Generation Teardown and see if all your cables and button are connected. Replacement is available here http://www.ipodrefresh.com/3rd-gen-ipod-... and here http://www.repairsuniverse.com/ipod-touc... I'd get the flex ribbon cable....Good Luck
