Camera Unknown error when picture taken

Hi,

Got a confusing issue with the rear camera on a galaxy s7 edge.

This is a new flash of the OS

Nothing has been installed on the device as yet.

I can take pictures with the front camera no problems. . On the rear camera I can view what it's looking at and it will focus too but when I've taken a picture it comes up with an unknown error then the phone restarts.

I've reflashed the firmware for this model as well as clearing the cache.

Could this be a camera issue?

Do you have microSD card inserted? Maybe it's trying to write to the memory card but fails because it may be faulty?

I had this problem on a couple different S7 devices in my shop. Almost always after a device wipe. I tried a lot of aftermarket replacements and none of them worked. What DID work was replacing the rear camera with one from another S7 I got that was run over by a truck so they actually just donated it to my shop after I recovered data.

I searched a lot around on troubleshooting resources and kept ending up with it being a firmware issue with the camera itself

Yeah, those cameras have given me quote a few issues, like I said if you can find a trashed S7 maybe try that camera?

i have the same problem, camera unknown error hp restart. When i send my S7 edge to Samsung Service Centre, they said, its the motherboard problem and i have to replace it.
