Ford Ranger 2006 3.0 compression leak

Like a lot of people I have a 2006 Ford Ranger 72k miles with a misfire and a compression leak. I have decided that I’m going to go ahead and change the heads with some new re-modified Chinese heads. Before I do this big job I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on these Chinese heads? If anyone had any advice on what kind a gaskets to use and if I should replace anything while I’m replacing the heads? Thanks in advance, Chris

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@rigs2 you are sure it's the heads that need replacing? There are plenty of other reasons for a low compression and replacing the heads may not always fix it.Check your valves and have them redone before replacing the complete heads. there is really no reason for it unless they are cracked...

Have you done a compression test? Once you take the heads off and change them out, you really should hone the bores and make sure that the ridge has been removed. If all you do is change the heads you run the risk of blowing out your bottom end. But it is your money.
