not able to connect to network

i bought iphone3gs 1 month back. i unlocked it but after unlock it worked for 15days well but later it stopped receiving network and always shows no network but the carriers were changing according to the sim inserted.. so can u plz tell me what the problem was??...is it software or hardware problem???

it worked for 15 days after unlock but on next morning iam not able to make calls.then i have taken the sim out and inserted it again, later it started showing no service...

Not sure. Have you tried the simple things like reinserting the sim firmly? A restore from itunes?

I don't know if the unlocking is the problem, or if it's a hardware problem.

What steps have you taken to troubleshoot this? The more info you give, the more likely someone can help.

is 3G off? unlocked phones need to turn off 3G

Is this phone secondhand? There's a chance the previos owner has reported it lost/stolen... Naughty but true! Check your imei or ring the original carrier to check

i dont know wheather it is second hand or not,but my friend bought it from uk and gave it to me.. if its the problem with the second hand, and the chance of owner reported it lost what should i do to make it work properly??? plz provide me valid solutions>>>

Rakesh, where outside the uk are you? You can check imei for free on international number plan... It's updated ? Monthly so may not be 100% accurate. check with friend where he got it from if it is reorted lost/stolen or is subject to insurance claim Imei can be blocked by uk and by apple...

Try Resetting Network Settings. (Settings>General>Reset)
