Why wont my kindle turn on?

i have completely charged my kindle but it will not turn on. Ive looked at just about every other thing that could help but nothing tells me how to fix it. the light is green when i try to turn it on it stays on for maybe 8 seconds then turns back off. the screen does not turn on or anything
