I am looking for an SSD compatable with my grandfathers MBP

Hello there! I am currently looking for an SSD that is compatible with an Early 2011 15" inch MBP and is within a budget of $120.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

$120 is on the tight side... Most of the drives is this price range will be quite small 64/128 GB. Its worth getting the bigger drive Aiden found from IFIXIT.

Would an 850 EVO or 860 EVO work? they are both $100 on Amazon

I use Samsung 2.5" 850 EVO drives (the 860 is a lower end version). They are a good drive but the ones being sold on amazon are the smaller ones at this price. The smallest I would go with is a 256 GB.

You can use any kind of ssd you can find as long as it uses the SATA I, SATA II, or SATA III compatible connection interface. So to answer your question yes, a Samsung 850, or 860 EVO or pro ssd will work!
