error message on screen - "lens error"

After taking days of fantastic photos in Iceland I took my camera out of my jacket pocket and found the lens partially open and when I try to turn the camera on it displays "lens error" and will not open.

@lmrdwr823 coomon issue with digital cameras. Check for some suggestions on here. If those do not help you may have to consider replacing the lens. Nikon does not like to part with their service manuals or parts list so this may be the easiest way.
