Why does my phone go straight to voicemail from local calls?

Phone working fine for a week, now goes straight to voicemail for any local call coming in. Tech states I should change my number to a local area code. I have never had an issue with my number in all the years owning a phone, only with switching over to straight talk.

Yes. A few months now asking this question. Still no answer. All day long, Alcatel Flip behaves (rings when some one calls). I go to bed and next morning, phone is untouched, it goes immediately to voice mail without ringing. I cycle it off/on and it rings. The battery hold s a charge well. I don’t need to charge it overnight. It just decides not to ring. - A Stumped Chump

Im having the same problem. But it does not even let me choose the call fowarding button. Do you guys have any idea why?

I got a call on my voice mail for me to call him back, and now when I do, all it does is goes to voice mail and I cannot call him back. This stupid! This is a Alcatel flip phone. Another problem with this phone is sometimes it just shuts off. This is a Tracfone. Next week I’m going to go get Consumer Celluar phone and get rid of this Alcatel worthless phone! Do not buy an Alcatel unless you want nothing but trouble. I have had enough!

Hi @dmax ,

Check the following:

1. Check the Call forwarding unconditional setting

Call Forwarding Unconditional (CFU) immediately forwards all calls to another phone number without allowing the device to ring.

From the Home screen, tap Phone > tap Menu > tap Settings > tap Call settings > tap Call Forwarding > tap Always Forward > disable

2. From the Home screen, tap Apps > tap People > tap the name of the desired contact > tap Menu > clear the All calls to voicemail check box.

This has been a problem! The T-Mobile store staff were baffled and not all that interested in helping. I was getting up in the morning, calling from a land line to see if my phone would ring. Sometimes (!) it didn't. I cycled it off/on to get it to ring and not go to voice mail. I've noticed store sales personnel are very eager to promise help, but usually don't deliver. Good luck learning a phone.

It seems a common problem I will get another phone

yes going to call forwarding, tap disabled...IT WORKS ..."FOR NOW??!!"...................

Is a common problem; way past fed up dealing with it; switching from Motorola to Apple iPhone; bailing from T-Mobile too

That didn't work for my Alcatel. My phone also suddenly went straight to message bank. All my settings were right so I did 3 things and bingo it works again. Not sure which one fixed it though. 1. I turned off Wifi. 2. I removed the app radarbot. 3. I turned off message banks ability to modify the system of my phone. I did this by going into Apps, tap message bank and right down the bottom of page, tap turn off or disable their ability to modify the phone. My phone now rings after 2 months of silence. Update. I had to turn the massaging permission back on but my phone now works.
