My mac suddenly goes black+cannot access macOS utilities window

Hi.

Ever since I have updated my mac to High Sierra this problem seems to occur constantly and there were few steps eventually forcing me to write a question.

1. Kernel panics occured suddenly. I then deleted few programs not compatible with High Sierra, which solved the question.

2. When I turn the mac on, I hear the chime but the screen stayed black.

I just force restarted the mac few times and it worked.

3. I use Safari as my main browser and when I enter streaming websites such as Twitch, the screen just goes black and I will have to restart the mac again.

4. Now when I use Safari, the screen goes black in 5minutes. I have tried using Chrome as a substitute, which immediately turns my mac off. Funny thing is, there is a 50/50 chance my mac crashes when using Safari and Chrome.

5. I tried using external monitor to see whether I can se the screen when the screen goes black- It does not work. When the screen is normal, the external monitor works. But when I try to enter Mission Control, the screen goes black, and so does the external monitor.

What my mac looks like when the screen goes black-

Keyboard makes noises.

The Apple logo does not lit up on the front panel?

The external monitor does not work.

I consulted a guy at the service center and he told me that they will have to clean install the OS completely. So I did manage to backup some important files(I was not able to transfer files to the external hard drive so I had to use a cloud storage)

And I tried to clean install the OS myself. The problem is, there is a 50/50 chance for me to enter startup manager, and when I do manage to select "Install High Sierra", The loading bar stops in the middle and I then hear some metallic spinning(Maybe a fan noise since I use a ssd) and the screen goes black again, followed by occasional kernel panics when I force restart the mac.

Other than that, I have tried smc, pram, recover mode but they all endup in a similar situation.

Before I had the High Sierra update, I accidentally dropped my mac once which damaged my screen badly and had to replace the front panel completely.

Is there any possiblity that the damage also affected my internal parts as well which is creating this situation?

And can I have a rough idea of what internal part is causing this problem?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Do you have access to a second Mac? If you do you can try setting up yours in Target Disk Mode and inter-connect the two systems is your system able to access your systems drive. How to use target disk mode to move files between two Mac computers

When the display goes dark see if a flashlight shining through the Apple Logo allows you to see your desktop and the icons on it.

As far as High Sierra I'm not a fan yet! If you have a SSD drive you'll want to stick with plain Sierra until Apple fixes APFS to work better on SATA based SSD's. If you have a regular spinning drive you're OK! The problem is Apple forces APFS on you when the installer see's a SSD drive.

Sadly if you have a SSD you'll need to scratch the drive down to do a fresh install of Sierra as you can't do an inplace upgrade as you could the other way.

But before we go down that path lets see whats happening with your system as something is not right! Let us know what you see with the two tests I outlined. Once I get an idea what we're facing will guide us on the next direction.

Can you even get it into Target Disk Mode? You should see a FireWire or Thunderbolt icon bouncing on the display.

I cant get into Target Disk Mode. It just goes into kernel panic mode and the screen goes black by automatically restarting

Not good! You have a major failing on the logic board. You'll need to either replace the logic board or find someone who has the skills and tools to repair it.

Guess I'll have to ask for further inspection at a service center. Maybe I should look for a new laptop since replacing the logic board will cost some money
