Motherboard changed but My screen is still black

Hey !

While i was working on my macbook pro , it shut down and when i try to open it i see the backlight but icannot see anyting else tottaly black. I sent it to service and then they told me that we have to change motherboard and lcd screen. They tried just for new motherboard screen comes once and then go away again. They say the motherboard may be incompatible with the LCD screen and we need to change both. My macbook pro model is ME 294/ TUA.

Can i do something for it ?

or the only solution is to change between the two part?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Sounds like they put in the wrong logic board.

As long as you didn't get your system wet or damage it physically there should be no need to replace the display assembly. It might need a new display cable if that is what started things but I rarely need to do that in this series.

I would get my money back as they clearly didn't repair the system. I think you'll need to find another person to service your system.

Update (01/20/2018)

So lets jump to the bottomline here did they put in the exact same logic board parts wise as what your system had from the start?

I posted your systems specs above. What they might have done is used this systems logic board in your system: MacBook Pro 15" 2.3 GHz i7" (Late 2013) Intergraded Graphics

Basically, Apple had two versions of the same system one with dual GPU's and the other with only the intergraded Intel graphics (cheaper model). Is that what they did?

In some models of the MacBook Pro, you need to have binary changes like the display and motherboard. At least that's what they told me. But this binary change costs me 1000 bucks. I can add a little bit and get the new one. it is unreasonable to pay this price. What I'm trying to learn is whether there really is a problem of incompatibility in some models like mine. No fluid or shock damage on screen or computer. Just when I was working with Photoshop, I froze and a black screen came in trying to turn it on again. I can not see anything trying to open it with any key combination.

in fact, when the new motherboard was first applied to the screen, the image came back on, but then again, the motherboard could not be the problem. When the problem is not solved, it is understood that the problem is on the motherboard. but the problem was refreshed when the new motherboard was reinstalled. there is noing again

Someone has set you up with FUD! Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt ;-}

While Apple has different displays and logic boards across the different series replacing within the series does not require exchanging out other components like the display.

The only time this would be an issue is if they put in the wrong part from a different series that also used a different interface standard. The older unibodies used LVDS signaling between the the logic board and the display. When Apple went to the retina display models iDP was used for the signaling. So in this example these two displays are 'not' interchangeable (different signaling).

But, within the retina models there are a few differences between the different series like the FaceTime camera and the cables them selves as the layout is different. If we look at the display part MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Display Assembly we can see its compatible across a few different systems: MacBook Pro 15" Retina A1398 Late 2013 to Mid 2014

Again, this only becomes an issue if the wrong logic board was put in as we can see a different display is used on the older systems: MacBook Pro 15" Retina (Mid 2012-Early 2013) Display Assembly used in the MacBook Pro 15" Retina A1398 Mid 2012 to Early 2013

Did they test the “power supply”? Even if you are getting lights and prettiness doesn’t mean it’s not bad. Any events happen that you can recall? A power outage? Brownout (like lights dimming without a reason)

When the computer frozen, no power cable was connected. I switched the computer on and off because of freezing problem. On the next turn, the bar started to fill very slowly. Suddenly 'crossed out on the round' mark appeared. When I switched it on again, there was no image and nothing else. The opening sound is coming out, the back lighting is on, the fan sound is also heard.
