The keyboard and palm rest is NOT one unit. The keypad can be changed out. Just takes time and caution.

Hi @frana_brusca ,

The keyboard is part of the upper case assembly and this is considered to be a complete unit.

Here is a link to the service manual for your IdeaPad.

Scroll to p.53 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove the upper case. (although it seems that you may already be there)

On p.66 Item #2 you will find the replacement part numbers for all the different country and colour specific palmrest/keyboard assemblies that are available for your model Ideapad. The part number for your palmrest/keyboard should be stamped somewhere on the underside of the part

If you search online using the appropriate part number only for your particular model you will get results for suppliers of the part. Be aware that some include the trackpad and others don't. You can use your own trackpad if you wish.

It is easier to replace the keyboard than to fix it as you can create more problems than what you had before you started .

Where can I buy this upper assembly?

Also before I completely strip the PC - is there a way to find the right part number and order?

Hi @Prakash Manicka,

The only sure way to know is to dis-assemble the laptop and look for the part number on the back of the uppercase.

If you know the country that the laptop was sold in then the part numbers on p.66-74 should help you, e.g. for the USA- Upper_Case C 80S7 BL BK W/KB USA the part number is 5CB0L45946 and it is suitable for a flex 4 -1470 and a flex 4-1435 whereas for the USA Upper_Case C 80SB BL BK W/KB USA the part number is 5CB0L45988 and it is only suitable for a flex 4-1570.

So if you know the country where the laptop was sold in and you know the model number chances are that you'll get the correct part number.

To find a supplier simply search online using the part number ONLY in the search box of your browser.

Good Luck!
